Overview
Street racing is generally an unsanctioned and illegal form of auto racing that occurs on public roads. It is particularly popular across Europe, North America and East Asia.
Since the popularity of games such as the Need for Speed series, and the box office success of The Fast & The Furious franchise within the early 2000s, street racing has become a common theme in many motorsport-themed games.
Street racing also appears extensively in crime games such as the Grand Theft Auto series and Saints Row series, and players can choose to participate in street racing events in such games.
